Ski Butternut pushing to open weekend of January 2 – 3.

Great Barrington – After reviewing the most recent short and long term weather forecast, Ski Butternut’s General Manager, Dick McCann happily announced Monday morning that the mountain is looking to open as early as Saturday, January 2nd or Sunday January 3rd. Understandably opening is dependent upon the mountain receiving the necessary cold temperatures to blow snow, but the forecast looks very promising in regard to that much needed return to colder temperatures.

The Berkshires are under a Winter Weather Advisory Monday night into Tuesday afternoon that brings with it cold temperatures. The low for Monday night is predicted to dip down around 23 degrees. Snowmaking weather then returns again Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a low of 22 predicted and then again Sunday with temperatures forecast to dip to a low of 17 degrees. Temperatures in the mid-teens are ideal for snowmaking operations at Ski Butternut. These forecasts come from The Weather Channel. (more…)

Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) and the Eastern Maine Community College Foundation are pleased to announce the second annual Paul Bunyan Snocross, presented by Dysarts, will return to historic Bass Park in Bangor on Saturday and Sunday, January 30-31.

Jess Racing notches another podium finish at Makita Snocross National
Massachusetts native maintains points lead in Pro Lite

GLYNDON, Minnesota (Dec. 16, 2015) – Despite difficult track conditions brought on by a lack of snow and warm temperatures across the northern plains, Jess Racing competed in the Makita Snocross National, Presented by Country Cat over the weekend at Buffalo River Race Park.

Rounds 3 and 4 of the AMSOIL Championship Snocross (ACS) tour brought success for Montana Jess (Pro Lite) and New York native Jake Scott (Pro Open), with Jess scoring a runner-up finish on Saturday and Scott qualifying for his first Final of the season. Jess’s perseverance and efforts allowed him to maintain the overall points lead, holding a 22-point advantage over Kevin Wallenstein.

Officials at East Coast Snocross (ECS) are excited to announce an event that will bring trail riders and race fans together in one of Maine’s most scenic spots. The inaugural Maine North Woods Sno-X Challenge is set for Saturday and Sunday, March 12-13, at Historic Pittston Farm in Rockwood.
