LOON MOUNTAIN RESORT HOSTS 6th ANNUAL MONSTER MUD RUN ON JULY 9 2016

Lincoln, NH – With the 2015/16 winter season officially over and mud season coming on strong, Loon Mountain Resort is busily preparing for the 6th Annual Monster Mud Run on July 9, with registration for the event now open.

Regarded as one of the toughest obstacle course races in New Hampshire, this mischievously muddy 5k will challenge runners with more than 20 mucky obstacles spread out across steep ski trails and impenetrable White Mountain forest. Along the way, racers will drag snowmaking hoses through the mud, crawl beneath barbed wire, and test themselves in other fun and exciting ways as they negotiate obstacles with names like Snowmaking Boot Camp, Sadistic Slalom, and the Plunge of Paul Bunyan. This year’s race will also feature a free Mini Monsters race for kids, with pint-sized obstacles for children 13 & under.

While the Monster Mud Run was designed for runners of all abilities, racers looking to compete at the highest level can enter an all-new ‘Elite Heat’ capped at 75 participants. Course marshals will be on-hand to ensure each elite-heat racer completes all 20-plus obstacles. Those who fail to complete an obstacle will not be eligible for awards. While teams can compete in the general heats, only individuals may compete in the Elite Heat, and there is an additional $10 charge to race in this heat.

Following the race, competitors will enjoy a relaxing summer afternoon with music, lawn games, barbecue, and refreshments. An awards ceremony will also follow the race, with prizes going to top individuals and teams. Prizes for best team name and best costume will also be awarded.

Online registration runs through July 4, 2016. The first 100 racers can save $10 on registration by using the coupon code: FIRSTUP. Entry fees will increase for race-day registration, so racers are encouraged to sign up soon.
