ABOUT BLACK MOUNTAIN

Black Mountain remains the uncrowded and overlooked gem of the Mount Washington Valley. An historic ski area that dates it’s beginnings back to the early 1930′s and the ski train boom, Black Mountain has retained every bit of it’s charm in the midst of the ever expanding larger ski resorts surrounding it. Black Mountain offers a cheaper and more charming alternative to the big ticket ski resorts with their wide sweeping boulevards that are packed with skiers from edge to edge.

Black Mountain excels in the family ski experience offering superior services on a budget price. Beginners have an area of the mountain all their own serviced by one of the few operating Platter Pull lifts in New England, a lift every skier will delight in ascending. The rental shop is well setup and extremely functional and serviced by friendly and enthusiastic employees. Intermediate and Advanced skiers have more than enough to delight in as well with classic New England Trails cut through winding delightful hardwoods. Experts will be kept busy well after a powder dump as Black Mountain’s glades and double diamonds are a powder hounds best kept secret days after the powder has been eaten up else where.

The view of Mount Washington from the Summit is as inspiring as the turns to be had at Black Mountain. Accessable by a top to bottom classic Meuller Double with Riblet chairs, skiers can either visit the summit for advanced terrain or unload at a mid-station to sample Black’s gentler runs. Every run from the summit utilizes all 1100 vertical feet of Black Mountain which skis deceptively bigger than the veritcal would suggest. With south facing slopes, skiers and the snow will be warmed by the sun all day no matter how cold the mountain gets. After pounding powder all afternoon, pull up a chair in the Lostbo Pub and relax with some suds and excellent company and relish the glory of your fine turns made at a New England Classic.
