A Rainy Day on the Ice
Moultonboro, NH –  A rainy Sunday greeted the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club on Lees Pond in Moultonboro for the sixth race of 2019 season.  This week’s races were sponsored by Moulton Farms of Meredith. The race program was condensed slightly due to the weather.

The club skipped hot laps and went straight to the qualifying races followed by a very short intermission and then the feature races.  The first cars out were the V8 Stockers.

Moultonboro’s Pete Viano continued his winning ways with another V8 Stock feature win to extend his division points lead. Jared Harper, sporting an experimental stud and chain combination, gave Pete a run, but settled for second place.  Trevor Greene picked up third.

The Sprint Cars lined up next.  Derek Jeanson of Sandwich grabbed the win after overtaking early leader Nick Berry. Mike Horsh took third place.

Ossipee’s Maverick Eldridge dominated the 4-Cyl FWD division again this week, winning his qualifier and as well the feature event.  Jack Cook and Jacob Brown took second and third respectively keeping the FWD division points battle tight.

The Junior Division brought a new driver William Morse of Sandwich who in his very first race.  Points leader Rylee Harper took second with Tess Poitras picking up third.

The RWD division was won by Danielle Downing of Moultonboro. Her studded Volvo wagon has made several appearances in victory circle this season.  Brian Jeanson and Kyle Macdonald rounded out the RWD podium.

“Jack is back” was the theme in the Modified vision as Jack Cook of Moultonboro held off Tim Williams and Scott Burns for the win.   Scott took second with Tim third.

The Club hopes to get in another week or 2 of races before the 2019 season ends.  Check the club’s website at www.LRIRC.com or the Facebook page for the latest race/ice status and information about upcoming events, and for race photos.  See you on the ice.
