On Saturday October 12, 2019, Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury, NY will host its10th Annual “Plattepalooza” Family Fall festival. This annual event, which is held every year on the Saturday of the Columbus Weekend, has become the largest event of the mountain’s non-winter season.

“Plattepalooza” is a celebration of all things fall and draws a variety of people, from festival-goers young and old to skiers, families, and friends of the mountain for a fun day of activities in celebration of the true spirit of the season. “That’s what it’s all about,” says Plattekill’s Marketing and Group Sales Manager, Christy Jaromack. “It’s about bringing people to the mountain to take in the magnificent Catskills fall with a little something for everyone to enjoy.” For kids, there will be plenty of activities from which to choose. “Crazy Christine Balloons” will be back to hand out her creative balloon creations and “Sean ‘The Prankster’” will be there with a bunch of new magic tricks up his sleeve for his Magic Show at 1 pm. Other childrens’ activities include face painting, a bounce house, and cornhole toss games. Plus, there will be a pumpkin patch too where kids can pick and decorate their own pumpkins. This year’s music lineup will feature Texas blues and rock n’roll with “Wyld Blu,” from 12 – 4 pm, back by popular demand for a second year.

The festival will also host a variety of local vendors featuring chair massages, baked goods, local honey, organic granola, and much more. Guests can also visit the Plattekill Mountain Ski School or Job Fair booth to apply for winter work. The old-fashioned cider press will be pressing apple cider for all to taste and outdoor S’mores roasting will add to the vibe of the season. Those interested in preparing for the coming ski season will be able to take advantage of some great deals on gently used rental skis and snowboards from the Plattekill rental shop and the mountain’s ski shop will be featuring new equipment and clothing with pre-season discounts up to 40% off.

New this year, Plattepalooza will have a beer garden, serving fall brews and fresh grilled food such as burgers and hot dogs. Also new this year, a food truck will be on site serving fresh funnel cakes and popular fried treats. A wine and cocktail bar and fall menu will be available on the lodge deck, serving a variety of classic comfort foods, from butternut squash soup to BBQ lunch specials.

A day on the mountain wouldn’t be complete without a trip on an open-air scenic chairlift ride to the mountaintop to take in the beautiful colors of the season. Fall foliage chairlift skyrides will be offered Saturday and Sunday 11 am – 5 pm. The weekend will also be the final weekend Plattekill will offer downhill mountain biking for the season. Private lessons, gear rentals, and lift-serviced biking and hiking are all available from 10 am – 5 pm.
“Plattepalooza” festivities begin at 11 am and admission is FREE. The festival is on rain or shine For complete details www.plattekill.com or call (607) 326-3500.
