LOON MOUNTAIN RESORT ANNOUNCES OPENING DAY

LINCOLN, NH (November 11, 2019) – Thanks to the most powerful snowmaking system in New Hampshire and a coming winter storm, Loon Mountain Resort will open with the most terrain in the state on Friday, November 15 at 9 a.m.

Skiers and riders can kick off their season with top-to-bottom skiing and riding from the Gondola on Exodus, Bear Claw Extension, Flying Fox, Upper Picked Rock, Upper Bear Claw, Grand Junction, Lower Bear Claw, Seven Brothers, Crosscut, Link and Brookway. On Saturday, Loon will continue to expand terrain as snowmaking temperatures permit and will be open for daily operation. Guest services will be open in the Octagon Lodge, as well as food and beverage offerings and the Paul Bunyan Room. The Loon Mountain Sports retail shop and tuning center will also be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

New this season is the installation of dual-frequency RFID gates at all major base lifts. Loon’s gates are the first dual-frequency gates to be installed in North America. With the introduction of RFID technology at Loon, guests will enjoy direct-to-lift access with the new L Card. The L Card replaces traditional lift tickets and let guests reuse and reload their card from home. This means less time spent at the ticket window and more time on the mountain. Ikon Pass holders will be able to enjoy the same benefit, thanks to dual-frequency RFID that reads short- and long-range frequencies.

Loon will be open daily for the season going forward, and snowmaking and terrain expansion will continue, weather permitting. For updates on snowmaking and terrain, visit Loonmtn.com or on Facebook@loonmtnresort on Instagram and @loonmtn on Twitter.
