More than 100 Eastern Snocross Tour athletes will kick off the action-packed 2020 lineup at The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Saturday and Sunday, February 15-16

LOUDON, N.H. – Snocross will make its debut on the snow-covered dirt track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, February 15-16, marking the first winter event on The Flat Track. Among the field of more than 100 Eastern Snocross Tour athletes from around the Northeast who will be taking on Loudon this weekend will be local talent including a N.H. State Trooper, an 11-year old, the son of a local business owner and 2020 Aspen X Games bronze medalist.

The two-day event will be round three of seven in the Eastern Snocross Tour Championship. Groomers took to the track starting on Tuesday to transform the 0.25-mile bullring dirt track into a snow-covered course with a 100-foot frontstretch triple and a rhythm section on the backstretch that will have the fans on their feet.

N.H. State Trooper Janell Brown is based in Concord, N.H. and started competing in snocross when she was nine years old after attending motocross and snocross events with her dad. Sometimes, just for stiff competition, she likes to run in some of the men’s classes and does extremely well.

“It’s kind of nerve-wracking,” said Brown when asked about competing in front of a hometown crowd. “I feel like there’s a little more pressure. I’m hoping to go out there and get first place all weekend, so we’ll see how it goes. This course is awesome. It really represents that national style track that we all love, so we’re all happy to see a lot of snow out here and jumps that’ll send our sleds high in the air.”

Youth divisions will also take to the track with riders starting as young as six years old.

Kamden Duffy from Richmond, N.H. comes from a dirt track and snowmobile racing family. The 11-year-old got on his first snowmobile at the age of three and was racing by five years old, winning championships and dominating in most races.

“I’ve been doing pretty good,” said Duffy. “I’m hooked. I’ve been sweeping the weekend mostly, and I’m excited for this new event.”

Jake DaSilva is a 27-year-old Salem, N.H. native who started competing in snocross at five years old. His family owns DaSilva Motorsports in Hampstead, N.H.

Jesse “Showtime” Kirchmeyer most recently won a bronze medal in the 2020 Aspen X Games and is also a 2019 Aspen X Games silver medalist, FXR Dominator Snowbike v. Sled World Champion and 2018-2019 National Snowbike Champion.

Brown, Duffy, DaSilva and Kirchmeyer are among the athletes competing in The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s new winter Snocross event.

The Flat Track is the first track to be built in New England in the last 25 years. Crews turned roughly 186,095 square feet of ground and 3,000 tons of clay to build the 0.25-mile track which first opened in June 2019. The Flat Track, located directly behind the North East Motor Sports Museum, is the fourth racing surface on New Hampshire Motor Speedway’s 1,200-acre property, which already includes the famed 1.058-mile NASCAR oval, 1.6-mile road course and 0.25-mile mini-oval.
